Carrying Concealed Weapon
This course satisfies the requirements necessary to apply for a CCW Permit in the State of Ohio. This course involves eight hours of instruction in the following areas: firearms safety, firearms safety in the home, legal issues concerning CCW, legal issues concerning use of force, and basic fundamentals of pistol marksmanship.
The curriculum exceeds the State minimum requirements, and an emphasis is placed on providing basic weapon handling and marksmanship skills. The instructor also emphasizes the importance of the mental aspects of self-defense training, and introduces this material from the perspective of a law enforcement trainer. This is also a great course for anyone new to handguns.
This four hour course focuses on the basic fundamentals of pistol marksmanship: grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, follow through, and recovery. It is ideal for the beginning shooter, or the experienced shooter who wants to review and improve their skills. This is not a PowerPoint class. All four hours will be spent on the range.
This four hour course reviews the basic fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, then quickly moves into more advanced topics. Private lessons will be offered by appointment only. A minimum of two hours is required, and a maximum of four students per lesson. Private lessons allow a curriculum that is customized to the needs of the student. It also offers more individualized instruction, and an ideal learning environment. Each student is responsible for all range fees.
This four hour course reviews the elements of both the Basic and Advanced marksmanship courses, then moves into more advanced topics. This class is taught from the perspective of surviving a violent encounter. Emphasis is placed on movement and shooting on the move. Both in-holster and out-of-holster weapon retention is covered, as well as some basic self defense techniques. This course is ideal for the person who is serious about protecting themselves and their loved ones.
This four hour course is designed to prepare the student to take a proactive approach to ensuring their own personal safety. Emphasis is placed on preventative strategies designed to help the student avoid being involved in a violent encounter. These strategies cover safety in the home, in a motor vehicle, and in public. Basic, hands-on self-defense techniques are also taught.
